Yuba City High School has had a color guard for as long as anyone can remember but with time the sport of color guard and winter guard have evolved to be more dance and prop based.  As the sport has evolved so must we. With the support of administration and the band director, Ted Zalkind, we have transitioned to be a drill team. We have doubled in size, purchased new uniforms, new equipment, and extended practice times to after school. Our Drill Team is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles, and other equipment, as well as dance and other interpretive movement.

Those interested in joining should be prepared to practice year round. Our rehearsals for the fall will be on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30pm. We will also have monthly Saturday practices for 4 hours. We will be hosting a summer training camp with River Valley High School, Las Plumas High School, and Oroville High School July 24 - 26 from 9am to 3pm.

In the fall we perform with the band at pep rallies, football games, and parade reviews. We perform at three additional major parades through out the year. Those parades are the Veterans Day Parade, the Christmas Parade, and the Bok Kai Parade. All of these parades are in Marysville, Ca.

Starting in February we compete separate from the band at Winter Guard competitions. These competitions are held by Northern California Band Association and California Color Guard Circuit.  These competitions are free for competitors but usually have a $10 entry fee for spectators.

There are no dues to be a member of Drill Team. We do ask that purchase your own shoes, capris, and minimal accessories. Please speak with Coach Lauren before purchasing any of your practice gear as well.
